  • Local community regeneration programme of the City of Toruń for the years 2007-2015 was adopted by Resolution No 624/09 of the Council of the City of Toruń of 27 August 2009 concerning the adoption of the Local community regeneration programme of the City of Toruń for the years 2007-2015. Realization of the programme comprises investment projects connected with regenerating public utility facilities and activities concerning housing.
  • Assessment of the Strategy realization (evaluation) will be conducted no less than once in three years. Its purpose will be to assess whether the implementation of the Strategy through operational programmes and particular projects is realized in accordance with the provisions adopted in the Strategy.
  • The structure of the Development Strategy of the City of Toruń contains 4 strategic objectives, which include all areas of life: community, economy, education, tourism and culture. The aforementioned strategic objectives, due to their comprehensive nature, were divided into particular operational goals. Moreover, each operational goal was also described as to their expected results, main partners and priority instruments in realizing the goal.
  • Development Strategy of Toruń by 2020 was adopted by the City Council of Toruń on 4 November 2010 (resolution No 935/2010 of the City Council of Toruń). In the draft of the document, the vision of the city in 2020 was described as a tourist, educational and economic centre.

  • The foundation charter for Toruń was signed on 28th December 1233 by the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order Herman von Salza and the National Master for Prussia and the Slavonic Lands Herman Balka. In that way Toruń was founded by the Teutonic Order and managed by the Knights until 1454, when it became incorporated to the areas of Polish Republic under the reign of king Kazimierz Jagiellończyk.
  • The angel is an element that distinguishes the crest of Toruń from among the heraldic signs of other Polish cities. The profile of the angel appeared in the crest of Toruń after the end of the thirteen-year war in the 15th century and has survived to our times. Thanks to this, the angel is one of the most important symbols of Toruń.
  • Nicolaus Copernicus, the most famous and the most outstanding citizen of Toruń. He was born here on February 19th, 1473 at St. Anne Street, today 17 Copernicus Street, which now houses a museum dedicated to the astronomer. The fame of Copernicus is connected with his astronomical theory, the heliocentric theory, which assured Copernicus a place among the most outstanding scientists in history. In the town of his birth, Copernicus was baptized in a parish church, today’s St. Johns Cathedral, spent his childhood there and a part of his youth.
