Africa Reggae Festival

"Africa" is one of the oldest Polish reggae festivals – takes place continuously since 1991. At the same time, it is a great charity action and this is what distinguishes it from other similar events. The total income from tickets and fees for artists goes to specific locations of the poorest parts of Africa. The festival has supported so far, e.g.: implementation of humanitarian projects in Zambia, Kenya, Ruanda, Burundi and Tanzania. In recent years, the money is transferred by the Polish Humanitarian Organisation to Southern Sudan. Lack of access to drinking water is the biggest problem of this region, thus the funds collected during the event are spent on construction of wells.

The most distinguished artists of the Polish reggae/ska stage together with foreign artists perform during the Africa Festival in the Od Nowa Club. Due to the popularity of the event, it has an extended, two-day formula since 1993 and is always held during the last week of January.

Organisers: the „Toruń Initiative Group – New Society” Association (Stowarzyszenie "Toruńska Grupa Inicjatywna - Nowe Społeczeństwo"), the "Od Nowa" Student Creative Work Club, the Polish Humanitarian Organisation.
