May Poetry Buum | www.torun.pl

The May Poetry Buum is an event presenting artists coming from the independent literary community. It is related to the tradition of poetry meetings which were held at the Od Nowa Club in the the 70s and the early 80s. Stage poetry presentations, meetings with authors, film screenings, concerts, art exhibitions and book fairs take place during the festival.

The Buum is not a competition. Organisers of the event wish to promote young, underground artists and independent poetic magazines. The characteristic feature of the Buum is discussions, during which important issues are being discussed. The following topics were discussed: therapeutic aspect of the literature and art, presence of God in the poetry, also homosexual and women poetry was reviewed. The Table Action (Akcja Stolikowa) during which audience can talk with poets in private is an important feature of the festival.
